Machrie Moor 5
Blackwaterfoot, Isle of Arran
Stone Circle Canmore
Also known as Suidhe Coire Fhionn; Fingal

Machrie Moor, on the west side of Arran, is soaked through with archaeology going back 5,500 years.

A very obvious feature of the moor is the group of six stone circles set very close together.

Circle 5 consists of two concentric circles of granite boulders on a sloping mound. It's a little reminiscent of the Torhousekie stone circle near Wigtown. There are 15 stones in the outer circle, about 18 metres (60 feet) in diameter, and 8 in the inner circle, about 12 metres (40 feet) in diameter.
