This bundle of stones on a low hill above a loch was originally interpreted as being the remains of a large chambered cairn and stone circle.

There are obviously upstanding stones amidst a significant scattering of smaller stones surrounded by more large stones much like a kerb cairn. But it is now thought most likely that this was a prehistoric settlement for the living rather than a burial site for the dead, and the upright stones were part of a farm building, perhaps Iron Age, rather than a burial chamber.

A much larger circle of stones surrounds the site - perhaps the remains of a stock enclosure.
