About a kilometre south from Cairnpapple Hill, stands a pair of stones on the edge of the Bathgate Hills and with splendid views of the central valley of Scotland.
Or rather, a stone and a bit. One of the stones is just a stump, broken almost at ground level. According to CANMORE, two broken parts of the stone lay nearby and it was clear that the stone had been repaired and re-erected before breaking again. I'm not sure if the fallen parts of the stone are still present - I did have a bit of a hunt around on my most recent visit (2018) and didn't find any signs, but it could easily be hidden amongst the thick gorse covering the ridge where the remaining stones stand.
