Easter Aquhorthies
Inverurie, Aberdeenshire
Stone Circle (Recumbent) Canmore HES
Also known as East Aquhorthies

Easter Aquhorthies is a really beautiful example of the North East's recumbent stone circles. Constructed around 3000BC the stones have been selected from different types of rock: pink granite, grey granite, porphyry and red jasper.

The 4m (13 foot) long recumbent is supported by three smaller stones inside the circle and the two 2.5m (8 foot) flanking stones. Another 9 erect stones make up the rest of the circle.
