Tillyfourie
Alford, Aberdeenshire
Stone Circle (Recumbent) Canmore
Also known as Bogmoor Wood; Whitehill

A kilometre or so walk (or cycle!) along bike tracks through coniferous forestry plantation brings you to the ruinous recumbent stone circle of Tillyfourie.

The recumbent stone is still in position one of its flanking stones is still upright. The other eleven stones are still mostly close to their original position but fallen or leaning and almost fallen, and one of the stones has been broken up.

Despite the damage, this is still a very attractive monument - not least because of its splendid location.
