Standing Stone Canmore
Also known as Gogar Stone; Gogar Stane

This stone stands alone on the top of a low ridge in agricultural land between Edinburgh Airport and the M8 motorway. The corners of the stone point (roughly) to the cardinal points.

It certainly isn't the most imposing monument, being about 1.2 metres tall and very rectangular in section. But it stands out very clearly in its very exposed location.

Canmore also lists a mediaeval village called Gogar Stone in the same area. Presumably named for this stone.
